Main characteristics of Koonac Goats are:

  • Fast growing kids: Kids of Koonac Goats weigh at least 22-23kg at weaning (90 days).
  • High fertility: Koonac Goats can be bred in their first year of life (approx. 7 months of age), and produce twins (or more) every year (except for the first year, where a single kid is accepted).
  • High productivity: Koonac Goat mothers wean at least 80% of their own body weight.
  • Size: Koonac Goats are medium sized goats (45-60kg doe’s body weight).
  • Hardiness: Koonac Goats need only a minimum of hoof care and de-worming.
  • Maternal traits: Koonac Goats have no problems with kidding and are good mothers. They have firmly attached udders with only two teats and ample milk production.
  • Temperament: Koonac Goats are docile and easy to handle.

We normally have a range of does and bucks of different age classes available for sale. Furthermore, we hand-raise a small number of kids (orphans etc.) every year. These kids are particularly tame and make excellent pets.
